I am a native of western New York State. I began oil painting at the age of nine and it has been my passion ever since. I have traveled throughout the United States, Canada and Europe and lived in New York, Atlanta and San Francisco before moving to Iowa City in 1990. Artist statement :
I am drawn to a subject by the play of light and form. I concentrate primarily on Still-Life but I also frequently paint in the trompe l'oeil style. This style of painting gives the appearance of three-dimensional or photographic realism. Realistic art produced using traditional methodology is very compelling to me. I prefer the slow process of completing my paintings using centuries old techniques. I have found the process of working in a time-honored process, using traditional materials and methods to be inspiring and fulfilling.
