CLASS: Paintings
CATEGORY: Abstract
MEDIA: Acrylic on Canvas
SIZE: 36
YEAR: 2004
Description
“Heaven’s Gate” was created in the summer of 2004. Taking over 400 hours to complete, this piece represents Ebrahimi’s concep-tualization of the eternal struggle mankind faces with respect to religion, faith, and the soul. Whether it’s Christianity, Judaism, or the Islamic faith, people across the world battle with determinations of right and wrong, good and bad, and moral and immoral, in the ultimate attempt to rest in heaven in the afterlife. Although the various world religions have different views on how this goal is realized, they all agree that there is a key to heaven’s gate.

Ebrahimi, who was very heavily invested in the market at the time, lost a great deal of money in a short period of time. He painted “Broken Dreams” one month after he sold the last stock that he had owned.

Instinct
CLASS: Paintings
CATEGORY: Abstract
MEDIA: Oil on Canvas
SIZE: 72" x 72"
YEAR: 2002
Description
The pencil drawing for this piece was drafted in 2002, but not painted and completed until 2005. The picture of the zebra came from a magazine advertisement for Absolut Vodka that Ebrahimi’s sister had on her wall. When he saw the picture, he immediately wanted to paint it. Ebrahimi spent so many hours on the intricate drawing of the piece that when it came time to paint, he had lost the ambition to do so. He finally returned to the piece in 2005 and completed it within four days. At 72 x 72, it is the largest of Ebrahimi’s paintings.

If you look closely in the middle of the zebra's forehead, you can see an Absolut Vodka bottle.
