I see my art as I see my life: full of layers, patterns, perceptions, expressions and a wide breadth of emotions. My art gives me the capability to be creative and to utilize a process that is magical. I am able to show glimpses of myself behind the body of artwork.
With the use of different mediums such as oil/water-soluble paints, pastels, gouache, and pencils I have the opportunity to express my ideas in different modes. It is important for me to experiment with different applications to bring forth the images in my mind.
The subject sources focus on landscapes and scenes from the Southwest and Midwest of America. The colors, patterns, and forms of each region balance each other. I find the subject matter of these two parts of the United States alluring, profound and mysterious. Each picturesque moment can be simple and complicated at the same time. I use layers of a medium, be it paint or pastel to convey depth, intensity of pattern, brilliancy of color and captivating translucency.
The Midwest and Southwest imagery offers endless inspiration to me. It is a wonderful feeling to bring joy to owners of my work and to see a twinkle of my legacy.
