I create hand painted stained glass utilizing old glass panels, vintage windows, and various recycled glass pieces for my canvases.
I tend to wait for a piece to speak to me before I really know how it's going to be painted. Sometimes what I thought I had envisioned is not what my hands end up completing.
I use a high quality oil based glass stain and am inspired by photos I have taken to create my designs. I have had two designs chosen as Designs of the month, for April 2006 and May 2007 which can be viewed at www.dfly.com.
My husband and sons have been an immense help in creating frames for the glass panels and for creating my wooden light boxes.
I enjoy working with a client to create a design incorporating their wishes and my vision. I use bright colors as much as possible, and experiment with various media added to my paintings to create texture.
I am currently one of the participating artists with HandMade in America working on the HandMade House at The Ramble, which is part of The Biltmore Farms' Ramble Community. For more information, please visit: www.handmadeinamerica.org
