Rib lovers rejoice! A major new special event is coming this summer to the Minneapolis area. The Great Midwest Rib Fest will feature eight of the country’s top-rib cookers, an art festival with over 100 juried artists, highlighting Minnesota artists and crafters. These artists specialize in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, photography, watercolors and wood. Top-name live entertainment such as the Oak Ridge Boys light up the stage Saturday night at 7pm! The Great Midwest Rib Fest will feature the following rib cookers: Aussom Aussie Australian Barbecue, Philadelphia, PA; Bone Daddy’s Barbecue, Midland, MI; Chicago BBQ Company, Chicago, IL; Famous Dave’s, Minneapolis, MN; Rasta Joe BBQ, Pylmouth, IN; Sweet Baby Ray’s; Woodale, IL; Texas Thunder BBQ, Euless, TX; and Uncle Bub’s BBQ, Westmont, IL. Professional culinary and media personalities will be judging the same ribs that are served to the public. Trophies and cash prizes for first through fifth places for ribs and best sauce will be awarded. The general public will also be able to vote for their favorites by casting a ballot for the Best of the Fest people’s choice award. The rib cookers will vie for cash prizes and most of all, the bragging rights that come with winning this prestigious event.
