Translated from Spanish, La Jolla means "the Jewell." With a dramatic coastline boasting spectacular views, La Jolla's origins are as an artist colony by the sea. Today, La Jolla is the embodiment of luxury, style and class. The chic allure draws art lovers from around the globe. Stretching over 2 miles, through the heart of La Jolla Village, this two-day, juried art show and fundraiser has quickly garnered a reputation as one of the most prestigious art & wine festivals in Southern California. The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival features a silent auction, roving entertainment, a gourmet marketplace, a lively family art center and a wine and beer garden which features premier wineries and San Diego's top breweries. An added nighttime brew fest on Saturday night draws late afternoon crowds to the festival. All profits raised benefit many underfunded programs at local public elementary and middle schools. Since launching in 2009, the LJAWF has raised over $500,000 for the schools. |
